Preamble

The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, specifically refers to ease of access for the differently abled to the public or private buildings, workplaces, commercial activities, public utilities, religious, cultural, leisure or recreational activities, medical or health services etc. The government is also committed towards socio-economic transformation of differently abled, by adopting the global best practices.

The right to education focuses on the need to have inclusive education, where students with learning difficulties and identified disabilities fulfill their educational needs through disability friendly support system and equal opportunities provided at the educational institutes. AICTE guidelines expect the Engineering institutes across the country to provide differently abled friendly arrangements in the campus for the mobility and independent functioning of differently abled.

KKR&KSR Institute of Technology & Sciences upholding the core value of “family culture” believes in fair and equitable treatment to all. Since its inception, KITS has a clear and comprehensive policy for individuals with disabilities, aimed at providing inclusive education that fosters the development of their abilities and skills, while promoting their social integration.

Policy Statement

"We are dedicated to providing inclusive education for individuals with disabilities by fostering a nurturing and supportive environment. Our aim is to offer equal opportunities for them to realize their full potential, while eliminating stigma, so that they can become confident, capable individuals".

The institute has built a disabled friendly environment, taking special care of some of the common problems faced by the differently abled in their independent functioning and mobility and has provided the following facilities to differently abled students , staff members and guests visiting the campus.

Facilities:

Wheel Chair: A wheel chair facility with an attendant is available for the use of differently-abled, to facilitate easy and comfortable movement inside the campus.

Ramp: Ramp facility is provided at strategic locations in the campus for the safety of differently abled.

Lift: The Institute buildings have Lift facility with emergency alarm switches, which can be used by differently-abled on priority basis, to utilize the academic facilities existing at the upper levels.

Sign Boards: Directional sign boards are displayed everywhere to different departments and other facilities of the campus facilitating hassle-free movement within the campus.

Differently-able friendly wash rooms: The Institute has separate, well maintained, clean user-friendly washrooms with all the necessary amenities for the use of differently abled.

In addition, there are safety sign boards, good lighting arrangements illuminating the campus at night and surveillance system with CCTV cameras providing secure environment. Institute is also committed to implement all the schemes of the Government designed for the welfare of differently abled, on need basis.
